Whether you’ve lived in New Albany your whole life or are just visiting, odds are you’ll agree that this is the best time of year to be here. The trees are thriving in a lush, green renewal of winter’s blanketing grays and browns. The sounds and scents of landscaping in neighborhoods all over, beckon the breaking spring, and summon the upcoming summer. People are walking with longer, more purposeful strides unburdened by the bulk of heavy coats and scarves.
And although we’re just as productive---maybe even more so—during these warmer months, we also look forward to time relaxing with friends and family. Take a look around town and you’ll see people sipping lemonade on their porches, grilling in backyards, kids playing kickball in between dips in the pool. And patios and outdoor spaces at restaurants and bars all around town pulsing with lively spirit, and humming with energetic conversation.
This year, we have a new addition to the collection of outdoor venues in New Albany. Pastime Grill & Pub, located on the corner of Fifth and Market in Downtown New Albany, just finished constructing a marvelous veranda for outdoor socializing. This spacious, and inviting addition to a bar that has become a downtown institution, boasts several large picnic tables with umbrellas for sitting, and plenty of room for dancing to outdoor entertainment.
Their kitchen is open for lunch at 11 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. The menu includes Hamburgers and Pork Tenderloin sandwiches made fresh to order every day, and a Cod Special for only $5.25 on Fridays.
Pastime has all of your adult beverage needs covered as well. And on Sundays, you can watch the races while enjoying $8.75 buckets of domestic bottles. They also feature Karaoke, and live music entertainment throughout the week. Whenever you decide to stop by, there’s sure to be a crowd of friendly, smiling faces ready to welcome you with the type of hospitality that New Albany’s known for.
