Lancaster’s Cafeteria—A family serving families since 1953
When it comes to New Albany’s many great restaurants, one family name may just be the most recognizable to young and old alike. Troy Lancaster, who owns Lancaster’s Cafeteria along with his wife De Ann, is a 3rd generation restaurateur who says he learned from the best. He grew up working for his parents, Mike and Connie, his uncle Pat, and his grandfather Tommy Lancaster at the restaurant his grandfather founded in 1953.
What he was taught was the importance of providing made-from-scratch dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and served by friendly faces in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. All of these elements are in abundance at Lancaster’s Cafeteria, from the tasty entrees and delectable desserts to the 26 smiling employees preparing and serving them to you.
Lancaster’s Cafeteria offers home-cooked comfort food nothing short of what Grandma used to make. Each day they feature a different menu, served for both lunch and dinner. Customers have a wide selection of fresh-made salads, a choice of meats, a variety of sides, a soup of the day and of course, desserts—all served cafeteria style.
Menu highlights include a mouthwatering broasted chicken, tender roast beef with gravy, rich au gratin potatoes, a classic macaroni & cheese and savory green beans. On Saturdays, from 4-8 p.m., Lancaster’s Cafeteria offers an 8 oz ribeye grilled to perfection along with a baked potato and a salad, all for $8.95. And the value doesn’t stop there; the highest-priced item on the menu is only $4.50, making Lancaster’s Cafeteria as affordable as it is appetizing.
And the atmosphere is as family friendly as it comes. Customers can enjoy a smoke-free environment and a roomy dining area that can seat 175 people comfortably. The walls are adorned with banners of popular sports teams, and photographs of local sports icons. What’s more, you never know who you’re going to run into at Lancaster’s Cafeteria. Everyone from country music stars and national politicians, to pro football players and local T.V. news anchors have enjoyed Lancaster’s Cafeteria.
Lancaster’s Cafeteria can also cater your next event. And they have spacious private rooms that can accommodate up to 75 people.
